Cixi of Zhejiang province is located in the Yangtze Delta, on the south bank of Hangzhou Bay, and in the north part of Zhejiang Ningshao Plain. It faces Shanghai across the sea, neighbors both Zhenhai and Jiangbei districts in Ningbo to its southeast and is connected directly with Yuyao city to its southwest. As a modern and newly emerging city with certain scale, Cixi is well known as a “pearl decorated along the Hangzhou Bay”. Along with the construction of Hanghzou Bay Across-Ocean Bridge, the city will become the gravity center of the triangle area formed by three metropolis cities, i.e. Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo. The project of “Central Urban Area Road Construction and Connection in Cixi” introduced this time is a very important and urgent infrastructure project listed in the overall urban plan of Cixi. The project consists of four urban roads including the south extension of east outer ring road, the south extension of Xincheng Street, south outer ring road and the phase II of the east extension of Qianying Road. The total length of involved roads reaches 9723m with an area of 405394m² and total investment of RMB 564 million. The accelerated implementation of this project will exert very positive implications on the establishment of urban main truck road network, improve the traffic condition of the city, and address effectively the problem of “heavy traffic”.
